Restore a Google Drive WhatsApp backup to iPhone
Google Drive and iCloud WhatsApp backups use different restoration paths. Movapper provides a cross-platform workflow; a native iCloud restore is not a direct import of a Google Drive backup.

01
Know which backup you have
Confirm that the backup belongs to WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business, and note its date and account. A backup contains the data saved at that point; more recent messages may still be on the source phone.
- Identify the Google account that holds the backup.
- Keep access to the associated phone number.
- If end-to-end encrypted backup is enabled, keep the credentials required by that backup.
02
Choose cloud restoration or direct phone transfer
Use the Google Drive restoration workflow offered in Movapper when your backup is the source. If your Android phone still has the conversations, direct Android-to-iPhone transfer is another path. Choose one source intentionally.
- Cloud retrieval needs network access and the relevant account authorization.
- Direct transfer uses an accessible source Android phone and USB connection.
- Do not delete the source phone data just because you have found a cloud backup.
03
Prepare the iPhone destination
Have enough free space and the correct WhatsApp app type ready. Follow Movapper’s cable, trust and account instructions. Choose transfer or merge deliberately if destination chats already exist.
- Review the backup date and data selection before confirming.
- Read any encrypted-backup and restoration prompts in the app.
- Only enter passwords or verification information into the relevant app or official account flow.
04
Restore and check the chats in WhatsApp
After the app completes its transfer stage, finish WhatsApp restoration on the iPhone. Check the conversations and media, then create a new iCloud WhatsApp backup if you want future iPhone backup protection.
- A transferred backup does not automatically become a new iCloud backup.
- A readable chat export is different from a backup that can be restored.
- If the backup cannot be accessed or decrypted, do not assume missing data can be recovered.
